MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES FOURTH AT NAVY INVITATIONAL

Annapolis, Md. – The UMBC men’s cross country team placed fourth at the Navy Invitational over the weekend, scoring 116 team points. The Retrievers were led by Adam Driscoll, who completed the 8,000-meter run in 26:29.19, placing 20th overall.
Also finishing strong for the Retrievers was Greg Saylor, whose time 26:59.00 earned him 25th individually, Aaron Smith (27:00.74) with a 27th place finish, Shawn Shokry (27:13.80) in 29th and Ryan Cartwright (27:38.72) in 31st.
American University captured top honors, finishing five of their runners in the top-10, to score 27 team points. Host school Navy was right on American’s heels, scoring 28 team points to finish second followed by Tennessee (80), UMBC (116), VCU (140) and Mount St. Mary’s (170).
