2011: Competed in five of six meets for the Retrievers as a freshman... Scored in four meets for UMBC, including the America East Championships where she ran a seaon-best 5K time of 19:36.98 to finish in 64th... Top finish came at the season-opening Mount St. Mary's Dual where she finished in 20th... Recognized on the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Background: Was first team All-IAAM B conference from 2007-2009… Selected to first team All Baltimore City for Cross Country in 2008 and for Track in 2009… Named to first team All-IAAM A conference in 2010… Helped lead her track team to three consecutive undefeated seasons in conference and winning the championship in 2007… Was also a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and named a Theresian scholar.

Personal: Daughter of Bobby and Peggy Gessler…Has three younger sisters Katie, Amy, and Becky… Majoring in Biochemistry… Born July 14, 1993.
