2005:  Traveled to compete in three meets during his freshman year…ran in the season opener at the Mount St. Mary’s Duals, finishing the 5K trek in 16:42.34 fro 27^th overall…placed 36^th in the 8K run at the Navy Invitational with a time of 28:17.95…also competed in the Maryland State College Championships in Hunt Valley, Md., placing as the second Retriever and 16^th overall in a time of 28:49.00 as the Retrievers took third as a team in the meet.

Background:  Lettered at Patuxent High School in Lusby, Md., earning a  letter in indoor and outdoor track and field all four years and three years in men’s soccer…received the Minds in Motion Award all four years, carrying a 3.25 GPA or higher while in seasons…selected first team Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) for the 1,600m run, 800m run and 4x800m run…earned second team SMAC 3,200m run…set a personal best in the outdoor state championships, running a 4:27.00 mile for seventh in the state meet…junior year his 4x800m relay team set a new SMAC record in 9:02.00…earned the Male Scholar Athlete award…

Personal:  One of four children to John and Kandace Okoniewski…siblings names are John Jr., Joseph and Anna…father played football and basketball at the University of Delaware…born on February 13, 1987.
