Cross Country Teams Head to Albany for America East Championships

BALTIMORE—The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Albany, N.Y., this weekend to take part in the 2011 America East Cross Country Championships Saturday, hosted by the University at Albany.
The men’s team looks to improve on a fifth-place finish in 2010 and the women look to bounce back from last year’s eighth-place finish. The men are led by senior Sam Boimov (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg/Salisbury), who has finished in the top three for the Retrievers in all four meets this season, and the women are paced by senior Keri Wilson (Columbia, Md./Long Reach), who has led the Retrievers across the line in every meet this season.
The men will also count on sophomore Brandan McGee (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood), who has led the way for the Retrievers in half of their meets this season, including a fourth overall finish at the Mount St. Mary’s Dual 5k. The women also look to freshman Julie Gessler (
