10/21/2009
BALTIMORE—The UMBC women’s cross country team has been ranked 15th in the Mid-Atlantic region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the first time the Retrievers have been ranked since 2001.
UMBC, which finished fifth at the Princeton Invitational Saturday, has been led by senior Suzanne Gabriel (Falls Church, Va./McLean), who claimed the individual crown at the same meet, and senior Sara Parkinson (Lancashire, England/Loughborough University), who has crossed the line first for the Retrievers in seven out of nine career meets.
The Retrievers’ next meet is the 2009 America East Cross Country Championships, hosted by Vermont, on Saturday, Oct. 31.
