Women's Cross Country Places Second in Mount St. Mary's Dual 5K's on Friday

    EMMITSBURG, Md.—The UMBC women’s cross country team opened its 2009 season at the Mount St. Mary’s Dual 5K’s Friday, finishing in second with a dual record of 4-1.

     

    Senior Sara Parkinson (Lancashire, England/Loughborough University) crossed the line first for the Retrievers, finishing second overall in a time of 18:26.72. Fellow senior Suzanne Gabriel (Falls Church, Va./McLean) placed fourth overall in 19:04.35 and sophomore Keri Wilson (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) finished 16th in 19:44.53. Freshmen Laura Blevins (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Megan Arnold (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) finished out the scoring five for UMBC.

     

    Nvay won the meet with a dual record of 5-0. American finished third in 3-2, while George Washington, Mount St. Mary’s and St. Francis (Pa.) rounded out the meet.

     

    The Retrievers return to action Sept. 12 at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md..
