Four Retrievers Earn a Spot on America East Cross Country All-Academic Squads
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore All-Conference selection Hassan Omar (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) headlined a quartet of UMBC cross country athletes selected to the 2013 America East All-Academic Team, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning.

UMBC Cross Country Heads Back to Lehigh for NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals
BALTIMORE – With the men collecting their first America East championship since 2005, and the women posting their best-ever finish at the conference race two weeks ago, the UMBC cross country teams return to Lehigh for the 2013 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet, Friday afternoon in Bethlehem, Pa. The men’s 10k race will kick-off the day’s events with a 12:00 p.m. start with the women’s 6k race set for a 1:15 p.m. start time.

BALTIMORE – Fresh off a weekend away from competition, the UMBC cross country teams travel to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitation on Saturday. The women’s 6k race is set to begin at West Windsor Field at 10:30 a.m. with the men’s 8k competition scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m.

Semeon’s Career-Best Run Leads UMBC Men to 13th-place Finish at Paul Short Run; Women Fifth in Brown Division

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - UMBC cross country squads placed fourth against very strong fields at Navy on Saturday. The men competed in the Navy Invitational, while the women were a part of the Salty Dog Invitational.

BALTIMORE – Just a week after earning top-three finishes at the America East Pre-Conference Meet, including a top finish for the men, the UMBC cross country teams continue their early season schedule with a trip to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy Invitational/Salty Dog Invitational Saturday morning. Both races are scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start at the U.S.N.A Golf Club.

With a Mix of Veterans and Newcomers, Cross Country Seeks Breakthrough in 2013
BALTIMORE – A year ago, the UMBC cross country squads both made noticeable strides from the year before. Despite losing two scorers from the 2011 America East Championships, the men’s team jumped five spots and finished in third place at the 2012 meet, the squad’s best finish since winning the league in 2005. The women, meanwhile, were able to establish a core group of scorers, all of whom return again this fall.
