VOLLEYBALL TRIUMPHS IN FINALE OVER JACKSONVILLE IN JU INVITATIONAL

UMBC (1-2) captured a 3-1 (26-30, 27-30, 30-24, 20-30) decision over host Jacksonville in the final match of the Hampton Inn/JU Invitational Saturday night at Swisher Gymnasium. It marked the first UMBC victory for new Head Coach Greg Giovannazzi.
Jocelyn Teoh, who made the all-tournament team, had 22 kills and 19 digs to lead the Retrievers, while Amy Starosta added 19 kills and Megan Gross had 63 assists.
UMBC had lost earlier matches by identical 3-0 scores to champion Xavier and Birmingham Southern.
