VOLLEYBALL SWEPT BY AMERICAN

Baltimore, MD - - -The American Eagles swept the UMBC Retrievers, 30-27, 30-25, 30-13, in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday evening at the UMBC RAC Arena. American improved to 21-6 and UMBC dropped to 15-10.
Senior middle blocker Judit Szekelyhidi and junior outside hitter Karla Kucerkova each recorded 6 kills in the opening game to give the Eagles a 1-0 edge. The Retrievers jumped out to a 19-12 lead in game two, but American outscored UMBC 18-6 to claim the game. Szekelyhidi recorded 9 kills in the game. American dominated game three as they hit .520 and recorded 6 service aces.
Szekelyhidi finished the match with 20 kills and hit .469 from the floor and Kucerkova added 10 kills and a match-high 13 digs.
Freshman outside hitter Kristi Nall and sophomore outside hitter Tauna Woolery each recorded 9 kills for the Retrievers, who hit just .147 in the match.
