VOLLEYBALL DROPS SHOWDOWN WITH ROBERT MORRIS, 3-1

Baltimore, MD - - -The visiting Robert Morris Colonials took control of the Northeast Conference regular-season race with a 30-32, 30-23, 30-26, 31-29, victory over UMBC, Saturday afternoon at the UMBC RAC Arena. The Colonials are now 19-11 and a perfect 6-0 in the conference while the Retrievers dropped to 14-9, 5-2 in the league.
UMBC took the opening game as the Retrievers hit .275 from the floor. Sophomore middle hitter Jocelyn Teoh recorded 6 kills and classmate Julia Waclawiak and junior Jennifer Davis each added 5 put-aways. However, Robert Morris evened the match in game two by hitting .378. Junior middle blocker Karla Barhorst recorded 7 kills.
Robert Morris went ahead for good by taking game three. Senior middle blocker Katie Noble recorded 6 kills and the Colonial held the Retrievers to a .149 hitting mark. Robert Morris closed out the match in game four as sophomore middle block Kallie Wasserman came up with 7 kills.
Noble recorded a match-high 20 kills and hit .375 from the floor and Barhorst added 14 kills and 19 digs. Wasserman (16 kills) and freshman Cyndi Dunslow (11 kills) were also in double-figures. Setter Darcy Miller just missed a triple-double with 9 kills, 53 assists, and 12 digs.
Davis hit .500 en-route to a team-high 16 kills for UMBC, who hit .242 for the match. Sophomore libero Jackie Carbo recorded a match-high 27 digs and freshman setter Megan Gross added 57 assists and 14 digs.
