CENTRAL CONNECTICUT RALLIES TO DEFEAT RETRIEVER VOLLEYBALL, 3-2

    Central Connecticut overcame a 2-0 deficit and won the last three games of the match to defeat UMBC, 3-2, in an NEC match played in New Britain, CT. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak by UMBC, dropping them to 13-9 overall, 4-1 in the NEC, while Central improves to 9-15, 3-2. UMBC won the first two games handily, 30-20 and 30-24. But Central came back to take games three and four, 30-27 and 33-31. With game five tied at 14-14, Central's Jackie Fernandez had two straight kills to give Central a 16-14 victory and the match win. Central had 12 kills and just 1 error in the fifth game. Sophomore Jocelyn Teoh led UMBC with 19 kills, and made just one error for a hitting percentage of .474. She added 3 solo and 9 assisted blocks. Jennifer Davis added 18 kills and Kristi Nall had 13. The Retrievers hit .210 for the match and freshman setter Megan Gross had 67 assists.
