BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team travels to America East rivals Binghamton and Albany this weekend for a crucial pair of matches. The Retrievers (8-13, 4-2 America East) take on the Bearcats (10-12, 5-2 AEC) Friday at 6 p.m. and the Great Danes (15-7, 5-2) Sunday at 1 p.m. UMBC finds itself a half game behind both opponents in the conference standings.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS and GREAT DANES: The two schools split a pair of matches last weekend, with each visiting team winning. Binghamton is led by Michelle McDonough and Anna Lejina, who average 3.94 and 3.71 kills per set, respectively. Albany is led by Casey Wright and Teresa Coppiellie, who average 3.53 and 3.19 kills per set, respectively.

All-Time Series: Albany leads the series, 16-2, including 3-0 on Oct. 1. The Great Danes have won the past seven matchups with the Retrievers’ last win coming in 2007 in Baltimore. Binghamton leads the series with the Retrievers, 13-5, but UMBC took the first meeting this year, 3-1 on Oct. 3. Last year the two teams split the series, with UMBC winning up in Vestal, N.Y. and the Bearcats winning in Baltimore.
