VOLLEYBALL RECORDS 3-1 COMEBACK VICTORY VERSUS MORGAN STATE
Freshman Kristi Nall recorded a match-high 19 kills tonight.
Freshman Christine Skala added 15 kills and 17 digs
Baltimore, MD - - -The UMBC Retrievers erased a 1-0 deficit and went on to defeat the visiting Morgan State Bears, 35-37, 30-26, 30-24, 30-21, at UMBC RAC Arena on Tuesday evening. UMBC improved to 8-6, while Morgan State dropped to 3-11.
In the opening game, Morgan State junior outside hitter Tasha Neal recorded 7 kills and the Bears hit .429 as a team to claim a 1-0 lead. However, UMBC recovered in game two as freshmen outside hitters Kristi Nall and Christine Skala each registered five kills. Nall and Skala added 4 kills each in game three to offset the fine play of the Bears’ junior middle blocker Tiffany Oliver, who came up with 8 kills. UMBC closed out the match in game four as sophomore outside hitter Julia Waclawiak had a team-high 4 kills.
Nall led all players with a season-high 19 kills and hit .261 for the match. Skala added 15 kills and 17 digs and Waclawiak also added a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs. Senior setter Heather Hollidge played a solid all-around match with 50 assists, 13 digs, and four service aces.
Neal led the Bears with 16 kills and hit a match-high .636. Oliver added 14 kills (.478) and added a match-high 8 blocks (6 solo, 4 block assists).
