Volleyball Falls to Albany, 3-0, in America East Semifinal

    ALBANY, N.Y.—The UMBC volleyball team fell to Albany, 3-0, Friday afternoon in America East Championship semifinals in Albany, N.Y. With the loss, the Retrievers fall to 13-13 on the season, while the Great Danes improved to 21-8.

     

    The Retrievers were outhit .178 to -0.038 and out-aced 10-2 as the Great Danes went on to win 25-19, 25-17, 25-11.

     

    “We did a good job of blocking, but ultimately we struggled to put the ball away and it was one of our weaker hitting performances of the season,” head coach Ian Blanchard said. “But a lot of our young players gained valuable experience and we have a bright future ahead.”

     

    Sophomore Alyssa Lang (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) led the team with 11 digs, while sophomore Iman Kennedy (Charlotte, N.C./Independence) had six blocks.
