Naomi Bush Named America East Volleyball Rookie of the Year

Bush, who tied for the most Rookie of the Week selections this year with four, is second on the Retrievers, averaging 2.48 kills per set, while hitting .233, third on the team. She has also added 68 digs, 29 total blocks and 10 service aces.
“Naomi learned a lot this year for us including a new position (right-side hitter), which she excelled at as the year went on,” head coach Ian Blanchard said. “She did whatever we asked and whatever was necessary for us to succeed and that’s something you like to see as a coach.”
Lang leads the team with 232 kills (3.14 kps) and is second on the team with 186 digs (2.51 dps). She led the team with eight double-doubles this year, while also adding 16 aces.
“Lang took on more responsibility and a larger leadership this year, and I’m very happy with the results she has given us,” the coach said. “We look forward to watching her grow even more in the next two years.”
Loynachan, who missed seven games in the middle of the season to illness, leads the Retrievers in hitting percentage at .257 with 132 kills (2.13 kps). She has also added 69 digs, 36 total blocks and 14 aces.
“She got off to a great start for us, but unfortunately suffered a setback with missing a lot of time for us,” Blanchard said. “I’m extremely proud of her for sticking with it and she significantly contributed for us down the stretch even though she wasn’t quite back to feeling 100 percent.”
