BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team returns to action after a full week off to face cross-town rival Towson Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the RAC. If you cannot make it to the RAC, the match will be broadcast live at www.umbcretrievers.tv.

LAST TIME OUT: The Retrievers (7-7) played one match last week, defeating James Madison, 3-1, on Tuesday in Harrisonburg, Va. Sophomore Iman Kennedy led the Retrievers, hitting .471 with nine kills, while senior Kira Giles earned a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs. Junior Sabrina Hoeks added nine kills and nine digs, while senior Pam Jarrett led the team with 12 digs.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION: Towson (8-8) fell to George Mason, 3-0, at home on Saturday night in CAA action. The Tigers defeated James Madison, 3-1, on Friday, three days after UMBC defeated the Dukes, 3-1. Britney Loomis leads the Tigers with 2.43 kills per set, while Katee Luecke and Evan Schulz share the setting duties, as Towson runs a 6-2 offense with two setters.

Towson leads the all-time series 34-31-1, but the Retrievers have last two meetings, including last year, 3-1 at the RAC Arena. UMBC head coach Ian Blanchard is 2-2 against his former school. Blanchard was an assistant at Towson before being named Retriever head coach in 2005.

Senior Pam Jarrett is ninth in career digs and became the ninth player in school history to record 1,000 digs in the 3-0 victory over Princeton.
