Retriever Volleyball Travels to James Madison Tuesday

BALTIMORE.—The UMBC volleyball team travels to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on James Madison in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at 7 p.m. Live video from the game is available here.
LAST TIME OUT: The Retrievers (6-7) went 2-1 at the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills Terrapin Invitational, defeating Howard and VCU before falling to host Maryland. Senior Kira Giles directed the offense, earning 43 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore Alyssa Lang also picked up a double-double with 17 kills and 13 digs in the win over VCU. Freshman Naomi Bush earned her first collegiate double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs in the loss to Maryland.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION: JMU comes into the match at 6-8 after going 2-2 in the Wingate Inn Classic in Rock Hill, S.C. last weekend. The Dukes defeated Davidson and Gardner-Webb, but fell to Georgia Southern and host Winthrop. Danielle Erb leads James Madison with 3.04 kills per set. The Dukes lead the all-time series 8-6 and have won the past five meetings including last year, 3-1.

Senior Ashley Oscars is climbing the charts of two all-time career lists at UMBC, kills and attacks, while fellow senior Kira Giles is in the top-10 in career assists and assisted blocks. Senior Pam Jarrett is ninth in career digs and became the ninth player in school history to record 1,000 digs in the 3-0 victory over Princeton.
