RETRIEVERS UPEND BINGHAMTON, FALL TO GW AND TERRAPINS IN MARYLAND INVITATIONAL

The volleyball team defeated Binghamton in its opening match of the season and gave good efforts in losses to George Washington and Maryland in the Maryland Invitational held in College Park, MD.Sophomore Tauna Woolery earned All Tournament Team selection as she amassed 22 kills and 37 digs for the tournament. UMBC defeated Binghamton, 30-26, 27-30, 30-17, 36-34 on Friday night. Freshman Christine Skala led the way with 19 kills (.341 hitting) and 22 digs. On Saturday, UMBC fell to GW, 30-20, 30-22, 28-30, 32-30. Sophomore Julia Waclawiak had 13 kills, while Jennifer Davis and Kristy Nall contributed 12 each. In the finale vs. Maryland, the Retrievers fell, 30-14, 30-19, 30-11.
