UMBC Volleyball Hosts George Mason Wednesday

BALTIMORE.—The UMBC volleyball team returns home to take on George Mason at the RAC Arena Wednesday at 7 p.m. If you can’t make it to the RAC, the game will be broadcast live at www.UMBCRetrievers.tv. Live stats will also be available for the game.

 

LAST TIME OUT: The Retrievers (2-3) traveled to the West Coast to take part in the Long Beach State/UC Irvine Invitational. UMBC finished the weekend 1-2, defeating Indiana State, 3-0, and played Long Beach State and #20 UC Irvine very tough. Sophomore Iman Kennedy hit .312 over the weekend and averaged 1.22. blocks/set, while freshman Naomi Bush made her Retriever debut, averaging 3.33 kills and 2.11 digs/set.

 

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION: George Mason (5-2) comes to UMBC on the heels of winning the Patriot Invitational last weekend in Fairfax, Va. GMU defeated Kent State, Cornell and Morehead State to win the tourney. Rebecca Walter and Holly Goode lead the Patriots’ balanced attack with 3.19 and 3.14 kills per set, respectively. UMBC and George Mason have played 23 times overall, with the Patriots leading the series 18-5. GMU won the last meeting back in 1999, 3-1.
