UMBC'S WACLAWIAK NAMED NORTHEAST CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK IN VOLLEYBALL

UMBC freshman hitter Julia Waclawiak (Ronald Reagan/San Antonio, Texas) was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week by the league office. Waclawiak compiled 32 kills, 9 aces, 6 assists and a .244 hitting percentage last weekend at the La Salle Invitational. She played consistent all weekend in helping UMBC capture the tournament with four wins over Morgan State (3-1), Lafayette (3-0), Drexel (3-0), and La Salle (3-1). Her best match came against Lafayette when she tallied 8 kills without an error in 18 attempts. For the weekend, Waclawiak averaged 2.29 kills per game and 2.50 digs per game and was second on the team with 9 service aces.
