Junior Angela Anderson tallied her third double-double of the season on Tuesday night.

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--The UMBC volleyball team dropped its sixth straight as they fell to Navy, 3-2 (17-30, 24-30, 30-25, 32-30, 13-15), on Tuesday night at Macdonough Hall in their final non-conference match of the season.

The Retrievers (19-11) have seen three of their last four matches go to five sets, while the Midshipmen (19-11) have won their last two matches.

Four Retrievers recroded double-doubles in the match, including senior Britney Hodson (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) who notched her first of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs.

Senior Stacey Carroll (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) posted her third double-double in the last four matches, putting up 56 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore Ashley Oscars (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty) recorded her sixth of the season with 15 kills and 15 digs, while Angela Anderson (Hermosa Beach, Calif./Bishop Montgomery) tallied her third with 10 kills and 11 digs.

Marissa Watson and Jessie Sims led the Mids with double-doubles, tallying 57 assists and 21 digs and 16 kills and 23 digs, respectively.

The Retrievers were stunted by errors early in the match, tallying hitting percentages of .049 and .065 for games one and two, as they fell 30-17 and 30-24 to the Mids.

Facing elimination in game three, the Retrievers fell behind early in the set, but a Midshipmen error sparked a five-point serving run behind senior Marisa Gross (Montclair, Va./Forest Park) to give the Retrievers a 16-12 lead which they would not relinquish en route to the 30-25 set win.

Game three saw 18 ties and nine lead changes, but an Oscars ace followed by a Mids error gave the Retrievers the 32-30 set point and force the match to a final, fifth set.

The Retrievers took an early, 8-5, lead behind Anderson and Gross serving runs, but fell to the Mids after an attack error followed by a Navy kill to suffer a 15-13 setback.

The Retrievers will conclude the 2007 season with a two-match homestand as they host Hartford on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Stony Brook on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
