Sabrina Hoeks Joins UMBC Volleyball Team

BALTIMORE-Sabrina Hoeks has signed a grant-in-aid and will join the UMBC volleyball team beginning with the 2007 season, head coach Ian Blanchard announced today.
“[Sabrina] is absolutely devoted, absolutely committed to getting better,” said Blanchard. “She’s going to be very connected with what we’re doing. She will certainly be in the hunt as one of our starting outside hitters.”
Hoeks, a native of
In 2006 she was named to the Washington State Coaches Association All-State Team and helped her team to a district playoff victory over hometown rival, Tumwater. Her best performance came in 2005, where she recorded 32 kills and 23 digs against Mark Morris H.S. in a five-game match and she was also named the Black Hills High School Wolves Player of the Year and to The Olympian’s All-Area Team that same year.
In the track and field arena Hoeks won a league championship, district championship, and finished runner-up in the high jump at the state meet. She was also named to The Olympian’s All-Area track team in 2006.
Hoeks joins previously signed student-athletes Sarah Hill, Tiffany Johnson, Bianca Sande, and Bridget Scheetz to complete the 2007 incoming volleyball class.
