VESTAL, N.Y. – The UMBC women’s volleyball team (9-12, 2-3 AE) lost 3-1 to Binghamton (9-14, 4-1 AE) by set scores of 30-27, 30-14, 17-30, 30-27 in America East volleyball action Sunday at the West Gym. The victory for Binghamton extends their current home winning streak to a Division-I best 10 games.

UMBC tallied seven service errors in the first set as Binghamton took the opener by a 30-27 margin. The Bearcats' momentum would carry over into the second frame, as recording a .486 hitting percentage in the set to forge ahead 20-6 before cruising to a 30-14 victory.

The third set was a sea-saw affair featuring eight ties and five lead changes. UMBC led 20-17 late in the contest before running off ten straight points to stave off elimination and force a fourth game.

In game four, the Retrievers led from the onset and looked poised to even the match up at two games apiece. However, facing a 22-18 deficit, Binghamton reeled off four consecutive points to recapture the match's momentum en route to a 30-27 triumph.

Freshman Ashley Oscars led three Retrievers' hitters in double figures with a match-high 18 kills. Ashley Hargrove and Angela Anderson each chipped in with 10 kills apiece in the losing effort.  Stacey Carroll had a double-double with 46 assists and 10 digs.

Megan Hoag was one of three Bearcat players with double-doubles as she added 14 digs on the afternoon to 15 kills.  Also tallying double-doubles were Ashley Meffert with a match-high 47 assists and 13 digs and Katie Robertson with a 10 kill, 11-dig performance.
