UMBC Women’s Volleyball Falls to New Hampshire, 3-1

The Retrievers won the first set 30-21, behind a .420 hitting percentage in which UMBC tallied 23 kills and two errors on 50 swings. The Retrievers trailed in the first set until junior setter Stacey Carroll served for five consecutive points to make the score 13-9 and take the lead for the Retrievers.
Retriever errors in the second and third sets totaled 18, for nine each set, while their hitting percentages were .128 and .100, respectively, allowing the Wildcats to rebound and take a 2-1 set advantage with identical 30-24 victories.
The fourth set saw 19 ties and eight lead changes until New Hampshire took the lead 30-29 and scored the match point as freshman outsider hitter Ashley Oscars hit into a block by Emmy Blouin and Katie Uitti to make the final set score 31-29, in favor of the Wildcats.
Sophomore outside hitter Angela Anderson led the Retrievers with a .350 hitting percentage, recording 17 kills and four digs. Oscars tallied 20 kills and five digs for a .245 hitting percentage on the night and senior libero Jennifer Wylie came up with 21 digs for the Retrievers. Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Ball also recorded a double-double for the Retrievers with 11 kills and 17 digs.
Sarah Rehn also recorded a double-double for the Wildcats with 20 kills and 23 digs.
The Retrievers totaled 68 kills and 26 errors for a .233 hitting percentage, while the Wildcats recorded 60 kills and 24 errors for a .216 hitting percentage.
