UMBC Volleyball Drops 3-2 Decision To Morgan State

BALTIMORE, Md. –  The UMBC women’s volleyball team lost a 3-2 (30-24, 30-28, 26-30, 27-30, 22-20) decision to Morgan State on Saturday evening.  UMBC, which rallied from two sets down, fell 22-20 in the final set as Morgan State won their first-ever match against UMBC in nine meetings.  UMBC moves to 6-8 on the season while Morgan State improves to 5-6. 

Freshman outside hitter Ivanti Bush set a career-high with 31 kills and added 14 digs, to record her sixth double-double of the season, while fellow junior outside hitters Esther Johnson and Jeniqua Moran added 18 and 16 kills, respectively to lead Morgan State.

 

The Retrievers (6-8) were led by last week’s America East Rookie of the Week, Ashley

Oscars, who finished with 23 kills and Sarah Fillmore added 20 kills. Jennifer Wylie totaled a team-high 19 digs and recorded three of the team’s six service aces.

 

UMBC returns to action when they travel to Hartford on Friday to face the Hawks in both team’s America East Conference opener.
