UMBC VOLLEYBALL’S SARAH BALL HONORED WITH FIFTH ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AWARD

Freshman Sarah Ball was tabbed rookie of the week by the America East Conference for the fifth time this year.

Baltimore, Md. – UMBC women’s volleyball freshman Sarah Ball (Winnipeg, Canada/Sisler) was honored with her fifth America East Conference Rookie of the Week accolade on Monday as announced by the conference office.  Ball led UMBC to back-to-back conference wins last week, hitting double-digits in kills in both matches. 

 

Ball opened the week at Hartford, recording 17 kills with six digs and two assisted blocks, finishing with 18 points in the match.  Ball went on to recorded 18 kills with two assisted blocks and nine digs against Stony Brook, scoring 19 points in that match. 

 

Ball on the week averaged 4.38 kills per game and 4.62 points per game.  She has double-figures in kills in all 15 matches played in and is averaging a team-best 4.07 kpg and 4.69 ppg on the season.

 

Binghamton's Katie Brody was tabbed with her the first Player of the Week award of her career, while teammate Ashley Meffert garnered her second-straight Setter of the Week award.
