The Black Bears carried their momentum into the second set hitting .351 as a team as they went on a 7-1 run to start the set and cruise to the 30-16 set two win. UMBC hit negative .026 in set two.
UMBC looked poised to steal the third set going up 19-11 but five service aces helped fuel the Black Bears comeback as they took set three, 30-26.
For the match, Fotter tallied 15 kills while Shelly Seipp finished with 42 assists for the Black Bears. The Black Bears hit .275 as a team with 52 kills and out blocked UMBC nine to four.
