UMBC VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCES THE SIGNING OF SARAH BALL TO NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

Baltimore, Md. – UMBC Head Coach Ian Blanchard announced today the signing of Sarah Ball to a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at UMBC in the fall of 2005.  Ball, 6’0”, is a right side power hitter from Sisler High School in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada.

 

Ball, who began playing volleyball at the start of ninth grade, developed into one of the top players, earning the “Mike Burchuck award”, which is giving to the top graduating female volleyball athlete in the Winnipeg Manitoba Area.  As a senior, Ball was ranked fourth out of all high school players in the province and earned a spot in the graduating all-star game and named to the All-Manitoba team.  Ball led her team in passing, digs and attacks en route to the conference final in which they lost by two points in five sets.

 

Ball has also been a member of the Winman Volleyball Club and Big Sand Volleyball Club.  As part of the Provincial Juvenile squad in Manitoba, her team placed second in the USA High Performance Volleyball Tournament in Austin, Texas and won the Canadian Nationals.

 

Ball most recently was chosen to play on the Manitoba 19 and under team in the Canada Games this summer.
