UMBC HIRES JENNIFER BEALL AS ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL COACH

Jennifer Beall joins first year head coach Ian Blanchard's staff.

Baltimore, Md. - The UMBC Volleyball team announced today the hiring of Jennifer Beall as Assistant Volleyball Coach.  Beall, who has risen from the High School ranks into her first collegiate position, has spent the past five years developing an impressive résumé, including winning a Maryland State Volleyball Championship as Head Coach in 2002. 

 

Beall, since her graduation from Barton College in Wilson, N.C., in 1999, has been a head coach at the High School level beginning at nearby Glenelg High School.  During her four year tenure, Beall propelled the school’s program to elite status with a 64-13 record, making the state finals three-consecutive seasons and winning the state title in 2002.  Beall’s team was a three-time regional champion and two-time county champion as she earned Howard County Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003. 

 

While at Glenelg, Beall also served as the Associate Head Coach for the Under-18 National Travel Team for the Timeout Volleyball Club.  While organizing weekly practices and assisting student –athletes and parents in the collegiate recruiting process, Beall’s teams placed third in 2004 and fifth in 2003 in the USA Volleyball (USAV) National Championships. 

 

Most recently Beall took the head coaching position at San Benito High School District in Hollister, Calif., recording a 28-10 record her first year and placing second in the Tri-County Athletic League, second in the Central Coast Section and reaching the first round of the Northern California State Volleyball Championships.    Beall also served as the Junior Varsity Boys Head Coach and assistant to the varsity team.

 

As a student-athlete at Barton College, Beall became a three-time first team all-conference selection for the Carolinas Virginias Athletic League.  Beall earned three-time player of the week status, co-captain honors in 1997 and 1998 and most valuable player accolades in 1998. 

 

Beall went on to play for the USAV Women’s Club team from 1999-2004 and DC Professional Women’s Volleyball Tour from 2002-2004. 

 

Beall has worked a number of camps including Pepperdine University, the University of Maryland and was the Truimph Volleyball Camp Director.

 

Beall will begin her new position effective immediately.
