RETRIEVER VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN FIVE SETS TO NORTHEASTERN

Boston, Mass. – The UMBC Women’s Volleyball team (11-11, 2-3 America East) took America East foe Northeastern (13-8, 4-1 AE) to five sets on Saturday night before falling in the fifth set, 15-13, at Solomon Court as the Huskies defeated the Retrievers, 3-2 (30-27, 14-30, 30-23, 22-30, 13-15). The Huskies rallied from a set down twice as UMBC won the first and third sets of the match. The Retrievers are currently 2-3 in the conference after having had to play the first five league games on the road.
Emily Berman (Towson, Md./Towson) tallied a match-high 21 kills to lead UMBC while Julia Hood (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) recorded a career-high of 19 kills, trumping her 18-kill performance set last week against Maine. Jocelyn Teoh (Punchong, Malaysia/Bukit Jalil Sports Academy) and Megan Gross (Montclair, Va./Forest Park) each tallied double-doubles. Teoh finished with 10 kills and 12 digs and Gross recorded 53 assists and 24 digs.
Northeastern hit .240 as a team with Kira Batura recording 19 kills and Bree Peterson tallying 65 assists.
The Retrievers return to action at home on October 22 at 7 p.m. against Albany.
