, N.Y. - Led by 14 kills and 11 digs from Jocelyn Teoh, the UMBC Retrievers (9-9, 0-1 AE) knocked off Manhattan College (4-14, 0-0 MAAC) in three games (30-24, 30-22, 30-17).  Megan Gross joined Teoh with a double-double, recording 31 assists and 19 digs to go along with three service aces and four blocks.

UMBC moved ahead in game one, taking a 14-9 lead, but the Lady Jaspers cut the deficit to two points at 17-15.  However, the Retrievers went on a 10-5 run, punctuated by a kill from Julia Hood to grab their largest lead of the game at 27-20.  Manhattan came back to take four of the next five points to shrink the lead to 28-24 on a service ace by Anna Lanyon.  But UMBC rallied to take the next two points and closed out the first game.

The second game featured seven ties and four lead changes, as the Lady Jaspers jumped out to an early 10-7 lead on a kill from Whitney Judkins.  The lead again switched hands and the game was tied at 17 when UMBC went on a 5-0 run to take a 22-17 lead.  Manhattan again battled back to get within two points at 23-21, but UMBC scored six straight points behind a pair of service aces from Emily Berman to take a 29-21 lead and eventually tallied game point to take a 2-0 match lead.

After UMBC stormed out to a 16-2 lead to open the third game, the Lady Jaspers went on an 8-2 run to close to within eight points at 18-10.  It would not be enough, however, as UMBC went on a 9-3 run of its own to put away the third game and take the match in three games.  The Retrievers in the final game tallied 18 kills as a team with just one error for a .459 hitting percentage.

Berman recorded 10 kills to join Teoh in double-digits in the kills category. The Retrievers recorded 10 team blocks in the game with Gross recording four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assisted), Berman with four (1 solo, 3 assisted) and Jessie Folk with four (4 assisted).
