UMBC VOLLEYBAL CLOSES OUT NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WITH 3-0 WIN OVER MANHATTAN

UMBC moved ahead in game one, taking a 14-9 lead, but the Lady Jaspers cut the deficit to two points at 17-15. However, the Retrievers went on a 10-5 run, punctuated by a kill from Julia Hood to grab their largest lead of the game at 27-20.
The second game featured seven ties and four lead changes, as the Lady Jaspers jumped out to an early 10-7 lead on a kill from Whitney Judkins. The lead again switched hands and the game was tied at 17 when UMBC went on a 5-0 run to take a 22-17 lead.
After UMBC stormed out to a 16-2 lead to open the third game, the Lady Jaspers went on an 8-2 run to close to within eight points at 18-10. It would not be enough, however, as UMBC went on a 9-3 run of its own to put away the third game and take the match in three games. The Retrievers in the final game tallied 18 kills as a team with just one error for a .459 hitting percentage.
Berman recorded 10 kills to join Teoh in double-digits in the kills category. The Retrievers recorded 10 team blocks in the game with Gross recording four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assisted), Berman with four (1 solo, 3 assisted) and Jessie Folk with four (4 assisted).
