UMBC VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH, 3-0

Jocelyn Teoh had a match-high 12 kills.

UMBC improved to 8-8 on the season after defeating Virginia Commonwealth (4-9) in three sets by scores of 33-31, 30-24, and 30-23.

For the match, the Retrievers were led by Jocelyn Teoh (Puchong, Malaysia/Bujit Jalil Sports Acad.) and Megan Gross (Montclair, Va./Forest Park), who each had double-doubles. Teoh had a match-high 12 kills in addition to her 14 digs, while Gross posted 21 assists and 17 digs. Gross' helpers on the night places her third on UMBC's all-time list in that category. 

Other Retrievers in double figures included Jessie Folk (S. Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North), who had 11 kills, and Christine Skala (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South), who recorded  14 digs. As a team, UMBC hit .145 (41-124), while VCU went .048 (38-147). The Rams were paced by Rachel Chapin and Amy Sexton, who each had nine kills.
