RETRIEVER VOLLEYBALL RETURNS TO WINNING TRACK WITH 3-0 VICTORY OVER COPPIN STATE
Megan Gross' 28 assists led UMBC to 3-0 win over Coppin State.
Sophomore Jessie Folk (S. Ellgin, Ill./St. Charles North) got the Retrievers off to an opening set victory as the middle blocker dropped five kills in seven total attacks with no errors for a .714 hitting percentage. Folk, who recorded her first career double-double in her last match against Yale, also recorded four digs in the opening set against the Eagles.
Julia Hood (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) had a similar showing to Folk in game two as the sophomore outside hitter scored five kills in eight attacks with no errors for a .625 hitting percentage in game two. The Retrievers recorded 17 kills as a team in the second game with a .250 hitting percentage.
It was Teoh, however, who finished off the night strong for UMBC as she recorded five kills to put her at 11 on the game, the 10th time this year and fourth in a row she has hit double-digit kills.
Coppin State was unable to get any offense going in the match, hitting -0.061 as a team with 18 kills on 82 attacks and 23 errors. A bright spot for the Eagles was their 14 assisted blocks and seven total blocks in the match.
Shauniece Steward and Trevon Dyson each recorded five kills to pace the Eagles.
