RETRIEVERS DROP SECOND GAME OF VERNON MANOR BEARCAT INVITATIONAL TO HOST CINCINNATI, 3-0

Cincinnati, Ohio - The UMBC Volleyball team (0-3) lost to host school Cincinnati (2-0) by a 3-0 decision in match two of the Vernon Manor Bearcat Invitational held at the Fifth Third Arena on the Campus of the University of Cincinnati.  The Bearcats took the three-game match, 30-23, 30-15, 30-28. 

 

For UMBC, Jocelyn Teoh recorded 10 kills, hitting double figures in the kills category for the second-straight game while Megan Gross dished out 22 assists.  Christine Skala had a team high 10 digs to lead the defensive unit that recorded 16 total blocks, six (one solo, five assisted) from middle blocker Jessie Folk. 

 

The Bearcats followed the lead of Julie Dupont with 18 kills and 13 digs for a double-double while the combination of Jenny Custer (20 assists) and Noel Olson (22 assists) combined to for 42 helpers.  Rachel Torblaa ended the match with 10 kills as well.

 

The Retrievers will finish the tournament at 5 p.m. on Saturday against Bradley.
