UMBC VOLLEYBALL LOSES IN THREE SETS TO LOCAL FOE TOWSON, 31-29, 30-17, 30-20

    Towson, Md. - The UMBC Retrievers (14-15, 3-7 AEC) could not stop Towson (22-4, 11-0 CAA) as the Tigers extended their win streak to 18-straight with a 3-0 (31-29, 30-17, 30-20) win over the Retrievers on Tuesday night in a non-conference volleyball match at the Towson Center.  The game was the Retrievers last non-conference match of the season.

     

    Leading the way for UMBC was junior hitter Jocelyn Teoh (Puchong, Malaysia/Bujit Sports Complex) with a match-high 14 kills and 17 digs. She was the only player in the match to amass a double-double. Sophomore setter Megan Gross (Montclair, Va./Forest Park) posted 26 assists and had five digs against the Tigers.

     

    Towson was led by April Hoffman with 13 kills while junior hitter Sarah Miller added nine. Mary Clare Coghlan poured out 28 assists on the evening and handed the Retrievers five service aces, including four in a row to start the third game.

     

    The Retrievers return to action when they play host to Maine on Friday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. and New Hampshire on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
