RETRIEVER VOLLEYBALL WINS THIRD STRAIGHT, TOPS LOYOLA, 3-1

Baltimore, Md. – The UMBC women’s volleyball team (11-7) defeated local foe Loyola (1-16), 3-1 in women’s volleyball action on Thursday night. The Retrievers defeated the Greyhounds, 25-30, 30-27, 30-24, and 30-26, to win their eighth match in the last 11 tries.
The Retrievers fell behind in the match by dropping the first set but recouped nicely to take the final three sets for the win. The duo of Megan Gross (Mont Clair, Va./Forest Park) and Jocelyn Teoh (Puchong, Malaysia/Bujit Jalil Sports Academy) carried most of the action for the Retrievers as Gross notched 52 assists in the match and Teoh, with a hitting percentage of .250, scored 21 kills.
Also chiming in for the Retrievers was graduate student Jennifer Davis (Ontario, Canada/Sir Allen Macnab), who hit.303, recording 14 kills.
UMBC returns to their home court when they open up America East action with the conference opener slated for Tuesday, Oct. 7 against Binghamton at 7 p.m. in the RAC Arena.
