2008: Named to the 2008 America East All-Rookie Team after being name America East Rookie of the Week twice during the season… Played in 18 matches for the Retrievers, starting 11… Was second on the team with 375 assists, averaging 8.52 per set… Earned two double-doubles, including a 41-assist, 12-dig effort against Maine on Oct. 5. Both marks were season highs… Posted 11 kills on 27 swings… Earned 30 or more assists six times… Had 23 total blocks, including a season-high six against Stony Brook on Oct. 12… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

 

High School: A four-year captain and three-time MVP at Kenosha Tremper High School in Kenosha, Wisc…. Helped lead the Trojans to their first appearance in the state tournament for the first time since 1996… Named to the All-Conference First-Team in 06-07 and 07-08, the All-County First-Team in 07-08, All-Conference Second-Team in 05-06 and All-Conference Honorable Mention in 04-05… Holds career and single-season assists record for the Trojans… Lists her best performance as a 30 assist, 15 dig, four block, two ace effort against the number one team in the state, Burlington, in 2007, which the Trojans won in three games… Member of the National Honor Society and member of the Honor Roll every semester for four years… Also graduated with an Honors Diploma and participated in DECA, Student Government, and Choir for all four years.

 

Personal: One of three children to John and Lisa Spaay… Has a younger sister, Amanda, and younger brother, Christian… Major is undecided but would like to work in the health sciences field… Born Feb. 8, 1990.
