High School: A two-sport athlete at Independence High School in Charlotte, N.C…. A two-time volleyball All-Conference performer for the Patriots in 2006 and 2007… Named the MVP in 2007, offensive MVP in 2006, and Most Improved in 2004 and 2005… Also earned the Scholar-Athlete Award in 2006 and 2007… Named to the Charlotte Weekly Volleyball Super Team Second Team in 2006 and 2007 and helped lead the Patriots to the state playoffs in 2006 and 2007… Also lettered in basketball and soccer while at Independence… Was named the Most Improved Player for basketball in 2004-05 and 2005-06 as well as the defensive MVP in 2006-07 and 2007-08 in addition to earning the Scholar-Athlete Award all four years… Helped the Patriots to the state playoffs all four years and was part of the 2006-07 team which captured the Southwestern 4A Conference Championship and made it to the third round of the state tournament… Was salutatorian of her graduating class… An honor roll student who was also a North Carolina Scholar, Member of Academy of International Studies, Member of Order of the Patriot, and AP Scholar with Distinction.
Personal: Daughter of Anthony and Alma Kennedy… Has three sisters, Remika McClain and Ebony and Aja Kennedy, and one brother, Sameul Currence… Father, Anthony, played basketball at Coker College… Majoring in psychology and pre-dentistry and hopes to become a dentist… Born March 3, 1990.
