BALTIMORE—UMBC volleyball head coach Ian Blanchard announced today that Megan Groess, Tanaeri Santiago, Hannah Schmidt and Dalton Tolliver have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Retrievers in 2011.

ALBANY, N.Y.--The UMBC volleyball team put up a valiant effort, but fell to Albany, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20, in the America East Championship Saturday. It is the second time the Retrievers (12-17) have finished second in the conference in seven years in the AEC.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team concluded the 2010 regular season on a high note, defeating Providence, 25-9, 25-17, 25-17, Sunday at the RAC Arena. With the win, the Retrievers (11-16, 7-5 America East) clinch the third seed for the America East Championships and will face No. 2 Binghamton in the semifinals on Friday.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team dropped a tough five-set loss to New Hampshire, 22-25, 25-18, 12-25, 25-16, 15-6, Friday evening at the RAC Arena. With the loss, the Retrievers fall to 10-16 (6-5 America East), while the Wildcats finish their season 10-17 (5-7 AEC).

WEST HARTFORD, Ct.—The UMBC volleyball team defeated Hartford, 25-19, 23-25, 15-25, 25-21 and 15-6, Friday evening in a key America East matchup to remain in second place in the conference. With the win, the Retrievers improve to 10-14 and 6-3 in conference play, while the Hawks fell to 8-19 and and 3-7 in AEC play.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The UMBC volleyball team won its third straight America East contest, defeating Providence 25-15, 21-25, 25-15 and 25-12 Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Retrievers improve to 8-12 and 4-2 in conference play, while the Friars fall to 9-16 and 1-4 in AEC play.

DURHAM, N.H.—The UMBC volleyball team was down 2-1 to New Hampshire Saturday afternoon, but rallied to win the fourth and fifth sets, 25-20 and 15-8, to improve to 7-12 on the season and 3-2 in the America East.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team hit a season-high .387 on its way to defeating Hartford, 25-13, 25-15 and 25-21 Sunday at the RAC. With the win, the Retrievers improve to 6-12 and 2-2 in the America East, while the Hawks fall to 5-15 and 0-3 in conference play.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team fell to America East rival Stony Brook, 25-22, 27-25 and 25-21, Friday night at the RAC. The Retrievers participated in the Side-Out Foundation’s Dig Pink Campaign, raising over $1,100 to help support the fight against breast cancer.

Earlier in the day, the Retrievers (3-4) defeated Howard, 3-0.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team finished Day Two of the Battle of Baltimore with the same result as Day One, as the Retrievers split two matches Saturday. UMBC (2-2) defeated Morgan State, 3-0, in the final match of the day after dropping a 3-0 decision to Towson earlier in the day.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team split its opening two games of the 2010 season as the Retrievers competed in Day One of the Battle of Baltimore Friday at the RAC Arena. UMBC (1-1) defeated Coppin State (0-6), 3-0, before falling to Loyola (3-2), 3-0 in the night cap.
