Three Retrievers Named to America East Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.óSeniors Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College), Dominic Devaud (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) have been named to the America East Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Teams, the conference announced Wednesday.
Christmas earned silver in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:51.68 and was part of the 4x800-meter relay team that finished third. He was named to the 2010 Outdoor and the 2009-10 and 2010-11 Indoor All-Academic teams. He graduated from UMBC on Monday with a degree in biochemistry with a cumulative GPA of 3.78.
Devaud earned silver in the decathlon with 6,664 points and fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.91. The 2009-10 Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-American was also named the 2009 America East Menís Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete. He graduated from UMBC last spring with a degree in mechanical engineering and has a 3.66 GPA in his graduate work in Baltimore.
Parkinson earned bronze in the 1,500-meter run in a school record time of 4:28.57 and placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 17:34.97. She was named to the 2009-10 CoSIDA Academic All-District II First Team and has been listed on America East All-Academic teams five times, including the 2009 and 2010 Cross Country and the 2009-10 and 2010-11 Indoor Track and Field squads.
