Parkinson Named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II Cross Country/Track and Field First Team

BALTIMORE—Senior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England) has been named to the 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II Women's Cross Country/Track and Field First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America Thursday.
Parkinson will now receive consideration for Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-America® program. She was one of eleven women in District II to earn first team all-district honors.
Parkinson earned America East All-Conference honors in the cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. She placed sixth at the 2009 America East Cross Country Championships, before winning the 5,000-meter run and earning bronze in the 3,000-meter run and fourth in the 1-mile run at the Indoor Track and Field Championships. She earned bronze in the 1,500-meter run at the Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
A member of both the 2009 America East Cross Country All-Academic team and the 2009-10 Indoor Track and Field All-Academic team, she is majoring in geography and environmental systems with a 3.62 cumulative GPA.
