Track and Field Heads to New Hampshire for America East Championships This Weekend

    BALTIMOREThe UMBC men’s and women’s track and field teams travel this weekend to Durham, N.H. for the 2010 America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday and Sunday. The men look to build on their third place finish at the indoor meet, while the women look to improve their fifth place indoor finish.

     

    On the men’s side, senior Justin Acker (Bowie, Md./Bowie/Salisbury) has the fastest 100-meter dash so far this spring with a time of 10.69, while fellow senior Victor Gilreath (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech/Maryland) tops the charts on the high jump and is second in the triple jump.

     

    Junior Keith Onto (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro/St. Francis (PA)) has the best decathlon score (6,946 pts.) so far this year, while senior Michael Buccheri (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan/Monmouth) is ranked third.

     

    On the women’s side, freshman Amanda Deller (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) has the best shot put mark of the outdoor season with a throw of 14.08m, while junior Chrissy Robinson (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) is third.

     

    Senior Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) is ranked second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.92, just two one-hundredths of a second over the school record, while sophomore Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers), who broke the UMBC record in the 100-meter hurdles, has the third fastest time in the conference at 14.15.
