KNOXVILLE, Tenn./LEWISBURG, Pa.—The UMBC track and field team set multiple season-best marks at both the Sea Ray Relays at the University of Tennessee and the Bucknell Outdoor Classic this week.
At the Sea Ray Relays, senior Keith Onto (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro/St. Francis (PA)) finished fourth in the decathlon with 7,025 points, while fellow senior Dominic Devaud (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) placed seventh with 6,627 points. Sophomore Chowan Brightful (New Market, Md./Linganore) finished eighth in the heptathlon with 4,128 points.
Junior Imani Colbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./C.H. Flowers) finished 11th in the women's 100-meter hurdles in a UMBC season-best time of 14.37. Sophomore Trae Proctor (Brandywine, Md./Thomas Stone) and senior Keith Brown (Columbia, Md./McDonough) both ran season-best times in the men's 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.69 and 14.74, respectively.
Freshman Kirsten Jones (Brentwood, Tenn./M.L.K. Magnet) just missed two school records, finishing the women's 200-meter dash in 24.91 and the 400-meter dash in 56.16. The UMBC marks are 24.41 and 56.00, respectively. Sophomore Ashley Ajayi (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) ran a UMBC season-best time in the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.21.
Sophomore Amanda Deller (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) finished eighth in the women's shot put with a season-best mark of 14.45m (47'5").
At the Bucknell Outdoor Classic, freshman Mo Drammeh (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) finished in a tie for first in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.89m (6'2.25"). Junior Kiki Malomo-Paris (Northern Ireland/Glenlola Collegiate School) placed sixth in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.14m (16'10.5").
In the women's 1,500-meter run, senior Sara Parkinson (Chorley, England/Loughborough University) finished fifth in a time of 4:32.52. Freshman Brandan McGee (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) finished sixth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in a UMBC season-best time of 9:18.90.
Sophomore Cameron McDearmon (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) finished sixth in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.30m (46'11"). Junior Sam Wilson (Davidsonville, Md./South River) placed eighth in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.50m (14'9").
The Retrievers return to action next weekend with some of the team going to the Princeton Invitational and the rest going to the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
