Women's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight With 7-0 Decision Over St. Joseph's

BALTIMORE—The UMBC women’s tennis team won its fifth straight match as the Retrievers swept St. Joseph’s, 7-0, at the UMBC Tennis Complex.
UMBC is now 9-4 on the season.
The hosts took the doubles point, as the Nos. 2 and 3 duos recorded 8-0 shutouts. Senior Carmen Jackman (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) and junior Emily Mannix (Hillsborough, N.J.) defeated Mullaney/Esposito at the No. 2 position and the Brazilian duo of Lorena Valente/Barbara Couto blanked Walsh/Dowd at the No. 3 slot.
Senior Alice Chen (North Potomac, Md./Quince Orchard) was tested, but prevailed over Kadzieski, 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position.
Valente and Mannix both recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins at the Nos. 3 and 4 positions respectively.
UMBC hosts America East rival Albany on Sunday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m.
