Women's Tennis Blanks Hartford; Drops Hard-Fought 5-2 Decision to No. 59 Boston University

The UMBC women’s tennis team (4-3) split a pair of road matches vs. America East foes this weekend, blanking
UMBC did not drop a set in the victory over the Hawks. In fact, No. 4 Heidi Danielsson (
Sophomore Carmen Jackman (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) competed at No. 1 singles and won a first-set tie-breaker en route to a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 win over Livia Blaque.
Against the Terriers, Couto and freshman Lorena Valente (
Couto continued her winning ways, rallying for an 6-0, 5-7 (10-6) win over Linero at No. 6 singles and senior Alice Chen (North Potomac, Md./Quince Orchard) won a hard-fought, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 decision over Francine Whu at No. 2 singles. Valente won her first set at No. 3 singles, but fell to Santini, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 and the Terriers captured the other three singles matches in straight sets.
