Women's Tennis Bests Host Duquesne, 5-2
The UMBC women’s tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 5-2 win over host Duquesne on Saturday, Jan. 23.
The Retrievers dropped the doubles point, but captured five of the six singles matches, with UMBC winning in straight sets in four of those contests. At No. 1 singles, senior Alice Chen (North Potomac, Md.) defeated Duquesne’s Ana Mungo, 6-4, 6-1. Mungo competed for UMBC in each of the last two seasons.

"We played flat throughout the doubles but the women turned it around in the singles taking five out of the six matches," head coach Rob Hubbard said. "I was proud of the way that they were able to bounce back and take control of the match against a good Duquesne line-up."
