Anderson Wins Flight at Quinnipiac Women's Tennis Invitational

    Without dropping a set, senior Elizabeth Anderson (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock North) won the “D” Flight singles competition at this weekend’s Quinnipiac Women’s Tennis Invitational.

     

    Anderson opened play with a 7-5,6-1 win over Seton Hall’s Nathalie Ranger, then knocked off the host school’s Amy Sarrazin, 6-4, 6-2. In the semi-finals, Anderson dropped just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 win over Army’s Bridie Burke and lost just three in the finals, routing Diana Alquero of Army, 6-2, 6-1.

     

    The weekend was also highlighted by the play of the doubles tandem of junior Pascaline Cette (Menton, France) and freshman Alice Chen (Potomac, Md./Quince Orchard) , who reached the finals of the “A” flight. The duo defeated teams from U. Conn., Quinnipiac and Bucknell, before falling in the finals to Ashley Globerman/Tania Varela of Bucknell, 8-2.

     

    Sophomore Joy Adewumi (Phoenix, Ariz./North Canyon) won the consolation round of “B” singles with wins over Army, Seton Hall and Stony Brook.
