2006-07: Shook off a tough fall to earn second team all conference honors at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles (Joy Adewumi)... also was named to America East All Academic team... triumphed in won nine of her last 12 singles matches... won both singles and doubles match in America East semi-final win over Binghamton... has 47 wins in two seasons at UMBC.
2005-06: Competed at the No. 2 singles slot as a freshman and won 11 out of her last 13 matches… named the team’s “Most Improved Player”… was 5-0 in tie-breakers… was 14-6 in doubles, playing primarily at the No. 1 slot with (current assistant coach) Ale Pedergnana… won seven of her last eight doubles matches, including both in the America East Tournament… finished second on the team in total victories with 30.
Background: An outstanding newcomer in Coach Puryear’s Class of ’09…kicked off her fall season at UMBC by winning a pair of matches in “B” Singles at the Quinnipiac Invitational…defeated Turkey’s #1 player in three sets in 2000…graduated fifth in a class of 170 students and qualified as one of the ten best English speakers in the country at the National Public Speaking Competition…has also earned other academic awards in both English and Mathematics…a double major in Information Systems/Financial Economics…lists favorite movie as Schindler’s List…sister of Adrian, 20, and Victor, 17 and daughter of Georgeta and Victor Carapcea…born October 27, 1986.
