The lone sophomore in the country to earn First Team Women’s At-Large Verizon Academic All America honors ...maintains a 4.00 grade-point average ... reached the finals in the "B" flight singles, before falling in the title match to Richmond's Robin Carter, 7-5, 6-4, to highlight the women's team effort at the Old Point National Bank ITA Invitational at Old Dominion University this fall...after returning from injury last year, she compiled a 22-6 overall record in singles and a 16-13 mark in doubles...went 14-7 in #1 doubles with partner Tia Kaasalainen...earned First Team All NEC honors in #1 doubles and #5 singles...through two seasons, she had career records of 42-9 in singles and 35-15 in doubles...as a freshman, she led the Retrievers in victories with 20 singles wins (20-3) and 19 doubles wins (19-2)…named First Team All NEC at #4 singles and #2 doubles…earned a victory at West Virginia…was the gold medallist at the Empire State games at #1 singles in 1999…earned five Section V singles titles from eighth through twelfth grades…was the Rochester District Singles Champion in 2000 and the doubles champion the last three years…was also an outstanding track athlete, earning titles for the Barons in the 4 x 800 and the 3000 meters…older sister, Anna, played Division I tennis at Syracuse University… intends to major in Political Science and would like to attend law school…also interested in journalism…a fan of Gustavo Kuerten, because "he is fun to watch and he always plays with class"…daughter of Oleg and Galina Khvalina…full name is Svetlana…born August 26, 1983.
