Kim Berghaus Named AE Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Cambridge, Mass. – UMBC senior Kim Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany/Leibnizgymnasium) has been tabbed America East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Berghaus logged an overall 5-0 record last week, including three wins at No. 1 singles and two wins at No. 2 doubles. She was dominant in her singles matches, dropping just three total games in straight set victories over Georgetown, Coppin State, and AE rival Binghamton.

Berghaus is 4-2 since moving up to the No. 1 spot singles position.

The 2011 America East Rookie of the Year claimed a pair of 8-2 doubles victories over Binghamton and Coppin State at the No. 2 slot when teamed up with Madlena Kurasz.( Zlotoryja, Poland).

UMBC is slated to face Maryland (April 16) and Richmond (April 18) on the road this week before preparing for the league championships the following weekend.
